I freelanced at Bally Design as a user researcher and early-phase product designer. My primary responsibility was building deep user understanding and translating those findings into both near-term product solutions and long-term business strategies. Below is a sample of the projects I worked on. Alas, process details and insights have been left out for confidentiality purposes.

 

Projects

McKesson is a US pharmaceutical distributor and health care information technology company and the 5th highest revenue generating company in the US. 

Contribution: As a contract researcher, I processed user findings on hospital procedures for medication transport and delivery. I also facilitated design sprints leading to multiple concepts elected for further development within McKesson’s automation division that continue today. As part of SOP, site visits findings and sprints were captured in a Client Book with Executive Summaries for future reference.

OXO came to us to help conceptualize new offerings in their line of analog food scales with an emphasis on increased functionality with little-to no-added complexity in usability. 

Contribution: Bally delivered 7 potential concepts including color and form explorations. To demonstrate our concepts, I produced and presented digital mockups of our proposed scale interactions and resulting weight readouts. 

Kennametal is a US supplier of tooling and industrial materials. Bally was contracted to help build a digital product to increase productivity via machine monitoring, reporting, and optimization – essentially system-wide connectivity before IoT had its name. 

Contribution: As lead researcher, I built our understanding of client procedures, office and factory environments, and existing human-computer interactions and delivered site visit findings as Client Book for future reference. I identified key, actionable opportunities, produced initial wireframes and transitioned findings to downstream UX designers.
